SDN Narrative Documentary Awards announced

While millions of photographs are taken daily and posted to Facebook, Flickr, Instagram, and other image sharing services, only a small fraction tell a narrative story and a smaller number would be considered documentary. SDN´s Narrative Documentary Awards are honoring photographic projects that create a coherent documentary narrative, first with the images and then providing necessary context with text and optionally, sound and motion.

I am delighted to be among the chosen few and to receive an honorable mention for „Fashion Victims – Other peope´s clothes“ in the competition. Congratulations to the other selected photographers Paolo Patruno,  Gabriela Bulisova and Susi Eggenberger.

SocialDocumentary.net (SDN) describes itself as a platform for photographers, NGOs, editors, journalists, lovers of photography and anyone else who believes that photography plays an important role in educating people about our world. Launched in October 2008, SDN today has hundreds of compelling online exhibits by photographers from all corners of the globe documenting issues as diverse as the effects of modernization on Kathmandu, homelessness in the U.S., the consequences of oil exploitation in the Niger Delta, and reconciliation in Rwanda. All photographers on SDN share a common curiosity about the human condition and a strong desire to communicate their insights through words and photographs.
