ItĀ“s been a while since my last blogpost. Now itĀ“s time to update you on recent activities and to let the cat out of the bag.

While millions of photographs are taken daily and posted to Facebook, Flickr, Instagram, and other image sharing services, only a small fraction tell a narrative story and a smaller number would be considered documentary. SDNĀ“s Narrative Documentary Awards are honoring photographic projects that create a coherent documentary narrative, first with the images and then providing necessary context with text and optionally, sound and motion.
Last weekend, I followed the invitation of the Lithuanian Press photographers club to Vilnius where „Fashion Victims“ is on display during the 7th annual Press Photo Festival.

It took a while to recover from exhausting but inspiring four days at the Eddie Adams workshop in upstate New York. My biological rhythm was turned upside down due to the predicted lack of sleep and massive input from teachers, speakers and fellow students. Still not all inciting and sometime confusing experiences are digested, but every now and then smaller or bigger epiphanies appear.

My project about the grievances in IndiaĀ“s textile industry „Fashion Victims“ was awarded in the PHOTOVISA Festival in Krasnodar with the 3rd prize in the sub-category „SOCIAL CLIMATE. THE CHANGES.“

In October „The Other Hundred“-Project book was released in Hongkong!
„CLIMATE of CHANGES. Man and His Life. Family. Society. Nature.“ is this yearĀ“s topic of the upcoming international photofestival PHOTOVISA in Krasnodar, Russia that will feature „Fashion Victims – Other peopleĀ“s clothes“ (ŠŠµŃŃŠ²Ń Š¼Š¾Š“Ń ā Š§ŃŠ¶Š°Ń Š¾Š“ŠµŠ¶Š“Š°) as it was selected by the international jury into the contestĀ“s final round. The finalistsā exhibition opens in the framework of the 5th intĀ“l Festival of photography PHOTOVISA on October, 20, 2013. The winner in the category photography/photoseries will be announced at the opening of the exhibition.

As one of the finalists of the last FotoVisura Grant, my project „Fashion Victims“ will be shown together with 11 other amazing projects in a projected exhibition on Sunday, 22nd in New York!
As part of the „Visa pour lĀ“image“ OFF-Festival in Perpignan, the photojournalism department of the University of applied sciences and arts in Hanover, Germany, holds an Exhibition that features the work of eight students and alumni.

I’ve been accepted as a student of the prestigious 2013 Eddie Adams Workshop for documentary photography!!! Out of thousands of international applicants, only 100 are accepted including a maximum of 10 foreign students! Marcus Reichmann and me are among the chosen few. A complete list of all participating students is to be found here. Finally, thereĀ“s the ultimate reason to make my way across the pond to the U-S-and-A!
